Derek Hicks
Regional Consultant for London HEFCE

Derek has been with HEFCE for over 10 years during which time he has had responsibility for a wide range of activities and regions. The core of his current role as Regional Consultant is the relationship management with 32 of the 41 HE institutions in London, plus other important stakeholders such as FE colleges and other government agencies.

Derek has worked as an academic and a senior manager in a number of universities, but for the first few years of his career he worked in the private sector in retailing (beginning at a small start up company and ending up one of the national chains), and has also had spells as a consultant working in areas including organization development and funding.
